BAU employees to lose allowance if uniform not worn
The administration of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) has made it mandatory for its working drivers, technical staff, security guards, and fourth-class employees to wear their designated uniforms during office hours. If this directive is violated, the allowance provided to them for clothing or leverage will be suspended.
This decision was announced in a notification signed by the Registrar by order of the Vice-Chancellor of the university on Thursday (July 2).
The notification stated that the matter regarding the wearing of uniforms by the relevant employees has been discussed with their respective organizations. In accordance with government circulars, heads of departments, branches, and offices have been instructed to ensure that employees attend their respective workplaces wearing the prescribed uniforms.
It further added that financial allowances for clothing or leverage will not be disbursed to employees who fail to comply with this directive. Heads of the respective departments, branches, and offices have been directed to take the necessary measures regarding this matter.
The leverage benefit is a financial assistance provided for government-designated official attire. Certain categories of employees wear these uniforms on duty and receive an allowance at a specified rate from the government or the concerned institution to purchase the clothing. Bangladesh Agricultural University also provides this allowance to its employees for purchasing uniforms.
