Students of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) have issued a six-point ultimatum, including a public apology from Vice-Chancellor AKM Fazlul Haque Bhuiyan, over the attack on students by outsiders.

At around 11:30am on Monday, third-year student AHM Himel, on behalf of the protesting students, placed their demands before journalists at Amtala in front of the administrative building.

Presenting the demands, Himel said the directive to vacate halls must be withdrawn, all facilities in the halls must be ensured, the proctorial body must resign within 24 hours, and the vice-chancellor must publicly apologise for the attack.

He also said exemplary punishment must be given to the teachers and outsiders involved in the attack, including Faculty of Agriculture teachers Asaduzzaman Sarkar, Tofazzal, Sharif, Rafi, Bazlur Rahman Molla, Monir, Ashiqur Rahman, and Kamruzzaman. In addition, the long-pending combined degree must be conferred without delay.

“If the six-point demand is not met, a tougher movement will be launched. If necessary, the entire university will go into lockdown and blackout,” Himel warned on behalf of the protesting students.

Earlier, on Sunday, at least 10 people including journalists and students were injured in an attack by outsiders amid the day-long confinement of about 200 teachers and officials by the students to press their demands.
