Baul song festival attacked in Bishwanath

A Baul song festival was attacked and disrupted in Sreepur village of Bishwanath in Sylhet.

Police said that a group of unruly people attacked the festival on Sunday (March 23) night during the festival.

Locals said that Baul song festivals have been held in the premises of Ibrai Shah Mazar in Rampasha Union of the upazila for a long time. In continuation of this, a three-day Baul song festival was organized this year. More than a hundred people attacked the festival on Sunday night. They vandalized musical instruments and sound systems and left the place while holding a procession.

Police visited the scene on Monday after receiving the information. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bishwanath Police Station Gazi Mahbubur Rahman said that the police went to the spot on Monday afternoon after receiving the information. The situation is currently calm.

But, no information about the attackers was received till filing the news on Monday night.
