BB extends deadline for digital bank applications to November 2

Bangladesh Bank has extended the deadline for submitting applications to establish digital banks to November 2, 2025.

The central bank announced the extension in a notification issued on Monday (September 15).

According to the notification, applicants must submit their documents in person to the Banking Regulations and Policies Department of Bangladesh Bank during office hours by the new deadline.

Additionally, soft copies of all relevant documents should be sent via email to the designated address.

Earlier, on August 26, Bangladesh Bank had revised the application period for digital bank licenses, moving the deadline from September 1 to September 30. The policy was also amended to ensure that shell companies cannot serve as sponsors of proposed digital banks.
