BB holds meeting with top firms to stabilise Ramadan market

Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr. Ahsan H. Mansur held a meeting on Monday (September 22) with 20 leading consumer goods producers to ensure price stability in the upcoming Ramadan market.

The hour-long discussion, held at the central bank from 5:00pm to 6:00pm, focused on food stock, price control, and import mechanisms.

Representatives from Pran, Meghna, Bashundhara, and Nabil groups, among others, joined the meeting.

Meghna Group Chairman Mostafa Kamal said the governor inquired about LC and back-to-back LC challenges faced by businesses, as well as stock status.

Nabil Group Managing Director Aminul Islam stated that importers were given guidelines to keep prices within tolerance levels during Ramadan and pledged to supply essential commodities at affordable rates.

Two deputy governors of Bangladesh Bank were also present in the meeting.
