Bangladesh Bank (BB) has ordered commercial banks not to allow cash withdrawals of more than Tk3 lakh per account daily. Bangladesh Bank informed banks through an SMS on Saturday. Earlier, the limit was Tk2 lakh. The central bank also instructed banks to monitor transactions through cheques and block any suspicious transfer of funds. "Due to security problems in transporting cash to bank branches, please do not allow withdrawals more than Tk3 lakh in cash during the upcoming week," said the SMS.

ব্যাংকের এক‌টি অ্যাকাউন্ট থেকে সর্বোচ্চ তিন লাখ টাকা তোলা যাবে বলে জানিয়েছেন বাংলাদেশ ব্যাংক। রোববার (১৮ আগস্ট) থেকে গ্রাহকরা এ টাকা তুলতে পারবেন। পরবর্তী নির্দেশনা না দেয়া পর্যন্ত এ নিয়ম প্রযোজ্য হবে বলে ব্যাংকগুলোকে খুদে বার্তা দিয়েছে নিয়ন্ত্রক সংস্থাটি। শনিবার (১৭ আগস্ট) রা‌তে বাংলাদেশ ব্যাংক থেকে পাঠানো এক জরুরি বার্তায় সরকারি-বেসরকারি ব্যাংকের ব্যবস্থাপনা পরিচালকদের এ নির্দেশনা দেয়া হয়েছে। একাধিক ব্যাংকের ব্যবস্থাপনা পরিচালক এ তথ্য নিশ্চিত করেছেন। নির্দেশনা অনুযায়ী, একজন গ্রাহক তিন লাখের বেশি নগদ টাকা উত্তোলন করতে পারবেন না। তবে যেকোনো পরিমাণ টাকা অন্য হিসাবে স্থানান্তর করতে পারবেন এবং ডিজিটাল লেনদেন করতে পারবেন।
