BB to create fund of Tk900cr for start-up companies

Bangladesh Bank has taken steps to establish a special fund of Tk800-900 crore to support new entrepreneurs. Governor Dr. Ahsan H. Mansur said that a formal notification will be issued soon.

The Governor shared this information while attending the ‘Bangladesh Start-up Connect 2025’ session at the four-day ‘Bangladesh Investment Summit 2025’ held at Hotel Intercontinental in Dhaka on Monday (April 7).

Dr. Ahsan said, "This fund will be used only to provide capital to start-up companies."

In his keynote speech at the session, Tanvir Ali, a Canadian citizen of Bangladeshi origin, emphasized the potential of Bangladesh’s young population.

He said, "In a rapidly growing economy, there is a strong demand for innovation and start-up ventures. However, investment in this sector remains lower in Bangladesh compared to competitor countries."

The co-founder of LinkedIn sent a virtual message for the event. The discussion was also joined by the Chairman of the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) and representatives from the ICT sector.
