The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has expressed deep concern and strong dissatisfaction over allegations that national cricketer Nayeem Hasan was harassed by law enforcement personnel in Chattogram, describing the incident as unacceptable and deeply troubling.

In a statement issued on Saturday (June 13), the country's cricket governing body said it was treating the matter with utmost seriousness following reports that the Bangladesh spinner was allegedly mistreated while returning home from Chattogram Airport on Friday night.

The BCB termed the reported conduct toward the national team cricketer as “unacceptable and unfortunate,” stressing that such treatment of a player representing the country demands immediate attention and thorough scrutiny.

Calling for a fair, impartial and comprehensive investigation, the board urged the relevant authorities to establish the facts surrounding the incident and take appropriate action against anyone found responsible.

“The Bangladesh Cricket Board believes the matter warrants a prompt and transparent investigation to ensure accountability,” the statement said.

The board also revealed that it has remained in constant contact with Nayeem Hasan and his family since learning of the incident. It said all necessary support is being provided to the player while maintaining regular communication with the Chattogram administration and other relevant authorities to monitor developments.

The incident has sparked widespread reaction across Bangladesh's sporting community, with growing calls for a transparent inquiry into the allegations and assurances that such incidents do not recur involving national athletes.
