BCB hikes cleaning staff salaries by 50 percent
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has increased the salaries of the cleaning staff working at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur by 50 percent. This decision has been implemented under the initiative of Board President Tamim Iqbal.
BCB Director Saied Ibrahim shared this information in a social media post on Thursday.
He stated that this decision is part of the commitment made to ensure the welfare of workers at all levels associated with cricket when the BCB ad-hoc committee assumed responsibility.
Saied Ibrahim noted in his statement that the success of cricket does not depend solely on the contributions of the players on the field. The cleaning staff plays a crucial role in organizing every match, conducting practice activities, and maintaining the overall environment of the stadium. This salary hike has been made to properly evaluate their labor and dedication.
He further added that fair remuneration is not a special privilege; it is a recognition of a worker's labor, sense of responsibility, and contribution. Ensuring the financial security of the workers will enable them to perform their duties with more enthusiasm and efficiency, which will ultimately have a positive impact on the development of the country's cricket.
According to the BCB Director, the current leadership of the board is prioritizing the welfare of off-field staff alongside good governance, infrastructure development, and player creation. The salary hike for the cleaning staff is a practical reflection of that policy.
He said that to build a strong cricket structure, the contributions of everyone involved—including players, coaches, administrators, grounds men, and cleaning staff—are equally important. Therefore, the goal of the BCB is to ensure the dignity and rights of every member of the cricket family.
Since taking responsibility, Tamim Iqbal has been undertaking various initiatives for spectator services and infrastructural development at the Mirpur Stadium. The salary increase for the cleaning staff is being seen as the latest step in that continuation.
