Beauty Rani Pal thanks supporters, demands Teacher Protection Act

Beauty Rani Pal, the schoolteacher at the centre of a recent social media controversy, has expressed heartfelt gratitude to teachers, journalists, professors and intellectuals across the country. She has also called for the enactment of a Teacher Protection Act to shield educators from cyberbullying and online harassment.

She made the demand in a statement posted on her Facebook account on Tuesday (July 28).

Beauty Rani said, "I express my sincere gratitude to all government primary school teachers, secondary and higher secondary school teachers, journalists, civil society members, respected professors of colleges and universities, and eminent intellectuals of Bangladesh who have stood by me."

She added, "The protests, solidarity and moral support you have shown through songs, poetry, writing and various creative mediums have given me courage and inspiration. I will remember this love and cooperation with respect for the rest of my life."

Demanding the enactment of a Teacher Protection Act, she said, "I humbly urge the honourable members of parliament to enact the Teacher Protection Act 2026 swiftly, so that no teacher becomes a victim of cyberbullying, defamation or online harassment in the future, and the teaching community can carry out their duties with dignity and security. Thank you all once again."

Earlier, on July 26, Beauty Rani filed a General Diary (GD) at a police station over cyberbullying and defamation following a video that went viral on social media.
