After the holy Eid-ul-Fitr and Bengali New Year holidays, import-export activities have started at Benapole, the country's largest land port.

“After being closed for five consecutive days, the port has started to return to its previous appearance. Import-export activities have started through Benapole-Pettapol Land Port through the opening of the customs office,” said Additional Director of Benapole Land Port Rasedul Sajib.

He said the port will be operating day and night to make up for the loss of five days of vacation.

Import-export trade started through Benapole port from Monday (April 15) morning. However, despite the return of activity in the port area, work is being done in a slow manner as most offices opened lately.

Raju Saddar, president of the Port Handling Workers' Union, said, “The workers joined work from 9:00am on Monday. Work speed will increase from afternoon.”

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Benapole Checkpost Immigration, Kamruzzaman Biswas said the crossing of passengers through the international checkpost is normal.
