BFA warns fertiliser dealers against overcharging farmers
The Bangladesh Fertilizer Association (BFA) has warned fertiliser dealers across the country to ensure sales to farmers at government-fixed prices and strictly comply with distribution rules.
In a notice signed by BFA Chairman Md Mosharraf Hossain, dealers were instructed to deposit payments, collect fertiliser and maintain adequate stocks at their warehouses within the stipulated time.
Dealers have also been asked to inform upazila agriculture officers about incoming consignments, properly maintain sales registers and conduct regular monitoring to prevent fertiliser from being sold above the fixed price.
The BFA warned that violations of the rules could result in cancellation of dealerships and other legal action.
The association also urged dealers to remain vigilant so that unscrupulous groups cannot sell fertiliser at inflated prices and shift the blame onto authorised dealers.
To prevent such incidents, dealers have been advised to maintain regular communication with local agriculture offices and the administration and immediately report any irregularities.
