BGB foils BSF push-in attempt of six men at Gomostapur border

The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) foiled an attempt by India’s Border Security Force (BSF) to push six men into Bangladesh through the Gomostapur border in Chapainawabganj on Thursday morning (August 27).

The incident took place around 6:30am near border pillar 216/MP in the Ramdaspur Border Outpost (BOP) area of Gomostapur upazila.

Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Ariful Islam, commander of Naogaon 16 BGB Battalion, said personnel from the Shamshernagar camp of BSF’s 12 Battalion attempted to push the six men into Bangladesh.

After receiving the information, a BGB patrol team from Ramdaspur BOP rushed to the area and found the six men on the Indian side of the zero line. The BGB personnel prevented them from entering Bangladesh.

The six men are currently being kept on the Indian side, and efforts are underway to return them to Indian territory, the BGB said.

Their identities and the circumstances behind the alleged push-in attempt could not immediately be confirmed.
