BGB foils BSF push-in bid, 33 stopped at Lalmonirhat border
The Border Guard Bangladesh has foiled an attempt by the Indian Border Security Force to push 33 people into Bangladesh through three separate border points in Lalmonirhat on Friday dawn, June 5.
The push-in attempts were made at Hatibandha, Patgram and Aditmari upazilas, according to BGB and local sources.
At the Baraikhata border outpost in Hatibandha upazila, 11 people were attempted to be pushed in. At the Pishtabari border outpost in Patgram upazila, 10 people were attempted to be pushed in. At the Durgapur-Dighaltari border area in Aditmari upazila, another 12 people were attempted to be pushed in.
BGB members rushed to the spot upon receiving information and took preventive measures along the border. With the cooperation of local residents, the push-in attempts were successfully thwarted.
The individuals could not enter Bangladesh and remained at the zero line or in the no-man's land between the two countries.
BGB said in a statement that patrolling and surveillance have been intensified in the border areas, and the situation is being closely monitored. The force remains on high alert to prevent any infiltration or push-in attempts.
