BGB foils BSF push-in bid at Benapole border
The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has foiled an attempt by India's Border Security Force (BSF) to forcibly push a group of 10-12 people, including women and children, into Bangladesh through the Benapole border in Jashore.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday, June 1, at the straw field area of Sadipur border point. BSF personnel attempted the push-in by switching off the security lights, but BGB members took position at the zero line and thwarted the attempt.
Commanding Officer of Jashore's 49 BGB Battalion, Lt Col Golam Mohammad Saiful Alam Khan, confirmed the matter.
BSF members are currently stationed at the zero line. The BGB has sent a letter to BSF seeking resolution of the matter, and arrangements for a flag meeting are underway.
BGB remains on high alert across the border areas of Jashore district amid concerns of fresh push-in attempts, with additional patrols and surveillance intensified .
