BGB foils BSF push-in bid involving seven men at Chapainawabganj border

The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has foiled an attempt by India's Border Security Force (BSF) to push seven men into Bangladesh through the Charaldanga border in Gomastapur upazila of Chapainawabganj.

The incident took place around 6:30am near border pillar 219/24-R, under the jurisdiction of the Charaldanga Border Outpost (BOP) of the Naogaon Battalion on Friday (July 24).

According to Lt Col Mohammad Ariful Islam, commanding officer of 16 BGB Naogaon Battalion, members of the 12 BSF Battalion's Tilashan Camp attempted to force the seven men across the border into Bangladesh.

Acting on intelligence, a BGB patrol from Charaldanga BOP rushed to the spot and intercepted the group while they were still positioned on the Indian side of the zero line, preventing them from entering Bangladeshi territory.

The BGB said its firm response forced the push-in attempt to fail. Efforts are currently underway to send the individuals back into Indian territory through an unfenced section of the border.

The border force reiterated its commitment to preventing illegal crossings and maintaining security along the frontier.
