BGB foils BSF's push-in attempt, detains 15 at Dinajpur border
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has detained 15 individuals, including women and children, after reportedly foiling an attempt by India’s Border Security Force (BSF) to push them into Bangladeshi territory through the Achintopur border in Dinajpur early Friday morning.
The group includes three men, three women, and nine children.
According to Md Rafiqul Islam, Commandant of the Achintopur BGB camp in Biral upazila, under BGB-57 Battalion, the individuals were spotted during a routine patrol and taken into custody.
“They were wandering inside Bangladeshi territory near the border. After detaining them, we brought them to the camp for questioning,” the commandant said, adding that legal action is being taken as per protocol.
Quoting the detainees, the BGB official stated that they were pushed into Bangladesh by BSF personnel.
This comes just days after BGB reportedly thwarted a similar pushback attempt involving 57 individuals at the Lalmonirhat border.
BGB continues to tighten surveillance and patrols along vulnerable points of the Bangladesh–India border in response to recent cross-border tensions.
