The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has foiled an attempt by India's Border Security Force (BSF) to push six people into Bangladesh through the Maheshpur border in Jhenaidah.

The incident took place early Saturday (July 25) along the Maheshpur frontier, according to a press release issued by Khallishpur 58 BGB.

BGB Assistant Director Munshi Imdadur Rahman said that around 5:30am, members of the 59 BSF Battalion's Singhamora Camp allegedly attempted to push four men and two women into Bangladesh through Gate No. 55/MP along the border.

Acting on information, BGB personnel quickly took positions at the border, forcing the alleged push-in attempt to fail before the individuals could enter Bangladeshi territory.

According to BGB, the six individuals are currently staying approximately 30 yards inside Indian territory from the zero line.

The border force said BSF has been formally informed of the incident through official channels.

BGB added that the border situation is being closely monitored and necessary precautions have been taken to prevent any untoward incidents.
