BGB foils push-in attempt of eight people along Kushtia border

The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has foiled an alleged attempt to push eight people into Bangladesh through the Daulatpur border in Kushtia.

The incident took place around 5:10am on Friday (July 24) near border pillar 152/1-S under the jurisdiction of the Joypur Border Outpost (BOP) in Pragpur Union of Daulatpur upazila, according to 47 BGB.

BGB said members of the 146 BSF Battalion's Char Meghna Camp allegedly attempted to send eight unidentified individuals into Bangladesh by crossing a river route. The group reportedly included two men, four women and two transgender persons.

Patrolling BGB personnel detected the movement and immediately took position, preventing the group from entering Bangladesh. Unable to cross the border, the individuals returned to Indian territory through the river, BGB said.

Commanding Officer of 47 BGB Kushtia Battalion, Lt Col Rashed Kamal Rony, said the border force remains on high alert to prevent any form of illegal intrusion or violation of border laws.

He added that BGB continues to maintain strict vigilance and perform its duties professionally to ensure border security and maintain peace along the frontier.
