The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) handed over six Bangladeshi nationals detained in Haryana to the Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB) through a flag meeting held on Sunday at the Jagdal border in Thakurgaon.

The handover took place near border pillar 375 at the Jagdal Border Outpost under the 50th BGB Battalion. A five-member BGB team led by Company Commander Subedar Md. Soleyman Ali received the detainees from a BSF delegation headed by Company Commander Shri Subhash Chandra.

The detainees Md. Shafiqul (24), Md. Rehan (19), Md. Naim (17), Md. Alamin (17), Md. Russell (21), and Md. Anwar (22) — had crossed illegally into India between eight months and four years ago to work in weaving mills. They were arrested on July 19 in Haryana’s Sonamati area during an infiltration attempt.

Lieutenant Colonel Tanzir Ahmed, commander of the 50th BGB Battalion, said the detainees have been returned to Bangladesh and are being handed over to Baliadangi police for further action.
