BGB intensifies patrols at Kurigram border to prevent push-ins
The Border Guard Bangladesh has tightened security along the Kurigram border following recent incidents of illegal push-in of Bengali-speaking people from India. The BGB's Kurigram Battalion (22 BGB) has taken highest alert positions to ensure border security.
In a press release on Monday, June 8, the battalion said surveillance and patrol activities have been intensified across the border to prevent any kind of infiltration. In addition to regular patrols from each border outpost, special strategic patrols are being conducted day and night. Joint patrols involving BGB members and local volunteers, along with intelligence surveillance and overall situation monitoring, have also been strengthened.
The BGB has stated that it has taken all necessary preparations to professionally handle any situation. The Kurigram Battalion remains firm in implementing a 'zero tolerance' policy to protect national sovereignty, ensure border security, prevent smuggling and stop infiltration.
Battalion Commander Mohammad Mahbub-Ul-Haque, PSC, said border residents have been urged to remain vigilant and to promptly inform the BGB of any suspicious activity in border areas.
