BGB member’s hanging body recovered from border watchtower

The hanging body of a Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) member was recovered from a watchtower at the Minatila Border Outpost (BOP) in Jaintapur upazila of Sylhet.

His colleagues recovered the body early Tuesday (1 September).

The deceased was identified as Jamil Ahmed Shish, 20. He was serving at the Minatila BOP under Sylhet Battalion (48 BGB).

According to BGB sources, Jamil is initially suspected to have died by suicide by hanging himself from the watchtower sometime between 4:30am and 5:30am on Tuesday.

Jaintapur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mahbubur Rahman Molla confirmed the matter.

“The body was recovered with a rope around his neck. It has been sent to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital for an autopsy,” he said.
