Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has strongly protested over the killing of a Bangladeshi man named Anwar Hossain (40) in Indian Border Security Force (BSF) firing inPanchagarh border.

BGB issued a press release in this regard on Friday (December 6).

It said that Anwar Hossain was killed in BSF firing at a place called Shingpara inside India while illegally smuggling cows from India to Bangladesh through the Mominpara border in Harivasa union of Panchagarh Sadar upazila.

The BGB has sent a protest letter to the BSF expressing strong protest and condemnation over the killing of the Bangladeshi man.

At the same time, the process of returning the body of the deceased to his family after following the flag meeting and legal procedures at the BGB-BSF battalion commander level is under process.

According to the BSF sources, the Chanakya BSF camp members stopped them after seeing some Indian and Bangladeshi smugglers colluding inside India and trying to smuggle cows across the border. At that time, the smugglers attacked the BSF members. In response, the BSF members first tried to disperse them by throwing sound grenades. Later, they fired three to four rounds. In this, one smuggler was shot and died.

The BSF also said that two Indian cows were seized from the smugglers at the spot. At that time, the patrol team of the BGB's Ghagra BOP was also able to seize a smuggled cow from the Mominpara border opposite the spot.

In this regard, the BGB's Nilphamari Battalion (56 BGB) said that the BGB's patrol activities and intelligence activities are continuing to prevent illegal infiltration at the border, suppress smuggling and stop border killings. In addition, regular opinion exchange meetings and various public awareness activities are being conducted with the bordering public, local individuals, and public representatives to prevent illegal border crossings.
