BGB seizes smuggled goods worth Tk 1.5cr in Benapole

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized smuggled goods worth Tk 1.5 crore in a raid at various borders areas in Benapole.

The raid was carried out in Benapole ICP, Benapole BOP, Amrakhali Check Post and Shikarpur border areas, resulting in the seizure of a truck carrying Indian Phensedyl, sarees, bidis, pan masala, motor parts, Kit Kat chocolates, cosmetics, and illegal polythene.

Lieutenant Colonel Saifullah Siddiqui, commander of Jashore-49 BGB Battalion, confirmed this on Wednesday morning (March 5).

He said, "On secret information, goods worth Tk 1.5 crore were seized from remote areas in Benapole on Tuesday night (March 4). The recovered items will be stored in the Benapole Customs godown.

"Smugglers are illegally bringing stolen goods from India to Bangladesh, bypassing customs duties. This not only deprives the government of revenue but also harms the domestic industry. The crackdown on smugglers will continue," he added.
