BGB seizes Tk 25cr worth of yaba in Teknaf operation

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized a huge quantity of yaba tablets in an operation along the Teknaf border in Cox's Bazar. The number of seized yaba tablets is 859,600 pieces, with an estimated market value of approximately Tk 25.78 crore.

The operation was conducted around 11:00 pm on Thursday, April 9, in the Rangakhali area of Hnila union in the upazila.

According to BGB sources, the special operation was carried out based on secret information and the modern surveillance system of the Ukhia battalion (64 BGB). When the BGB patrol team conducted the operation in the Rangakhali border area, drug smugglers fled leaving behind the consignment. No one was arrested in this connection.

Ukhia battalion (64 BGB) Commander Lieutenant Colonel Md Zahirul Islam said BGB remains vigilant to prevent drug smuggling in the border area. Surveillance has been further strengthened through the use of modern technology, enabling such successful operations.

BGB operations will continue to identify those involved in drug smuggling and take strict action against them, he added.
