Police have recovered the hanging body of a police constable, Md Shahabuddin Fakir (45), from a rented house in Bhola municipal area. The body was recovered from his residence in the Officerpara area on Tuesday (July 28) afternoon.

Shahabuddin Fakir was serving as a constable at Bhola Court Police. He hailed from the South Bijoypur village in Gournadi upazila of Barishal.

Inspector Md Nasir Uddin of Bhola Court said Shahabuddin lived with his family in the rented house, but his wife had gone to their village home a few days ago. Although he was scheduled for duty on Tuesday morning, he did not report to work. When repeated phone calls went unanswered, police went to his residence and called out. Receiving no response, they broke open the door in the presence of the landlord and found his hanging body.

The body was sent to Bhola 250-bed General Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Police said Shahabuddin's only child had died by suicide in the same house on May 4, reportedly by hanging. He had been mentally shattered since that incident. However, investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of his death, and further details will be available after the autopsy report.
