Bhutanese Prime Minister (PM) Tshering Tobgay will arrive in Dhaka on Saturday (22 November) for a three-day official visit.

Foreign Secretary Md Asad Alam Siam confirmed the schedule during a press briefing on Thursday (November 20).

At least three MoUs in the agriculture sector are expected to be signed during the visit.

On the first day, Prime Minister Tobgay will hold bilateral talks—both one-on-one and delegation-level—with Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus. He will also pay a courtesy call on Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain.

On Sunday, President Mohammed Shahabuddin will host a luncheon in his honour. The Bhutanese premier is also scheduled to meet business leaders in Dhaka, with discussions focusing on trade and investment, connectivity, education, health, tourism, culture, and sports cooperation.

The foreign secretary said Bangladesh will raise the issue of reducing travel tax for Bangladeshi nationals and the proposed trilateral agreement to import hydropower from Bhutan.

Invited by the Chief Adviser, Tobgay will stay in Bangladesh from 22–24 November and depart on Monday. He has been declared a Very Very Important Person (VVIP) for the duration of the visit.
