Biman Bangladesh Airlines has provided a free ticket to a student critically injured in the Anti-discrimination Student Movement protests, enabling him to travel from Dhaka to Bangkok, Thailand, for advanced treatment.

The student, injured during the protests that sparked a mass uprising, has been identified as Nabil Ahmed.

Nabil was undergoing treatment at the Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka after he was shot during the protests, Biman said in a statement on Friday.

At the request of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, special arrangements were made for Nabil to travel on Biman’s Dhaka-to-Bangkok flight for advanced medical care. The airline also provided a ticket for an attendant and covered the cost of a stretcher service.

Due to his condition, special assistance was arranged for Nabil at both Dhaka and Bangkok airports.

On October 20, Biman had previously transported highly sensitive corneal tissue from Nepal to Bangladesh free of charge to facilitate transplant surgeries for two individuals who suffered eye injuries during the Anti-discrimination Student Movement.
