Biman Bangladesh Airlines has reported the highest profit in its 55-year history, earning Tk 937 crore in the 2024–25 fiscal year, the national flag carrier announced in a press release on Monday.

This marks a significant increase from its previous record profit of Tk 440 crore in 2021–22. According to the airline, the strong financial performance was driven by efficient economic management, effective resource allocation, and timely decision-making under the current interim administration.

Founded in 1972 with a modest income of Tk 1.9 crore, Biman has gradually transformed into a modern and competitive airline. In FY 2024–25, the company generated Tk 11,631 crore in revenue, surpassing the Tk 10,000 crore mark for the second consecutive year.

Biman has reported profits in 26 out of its 55 years of operation. Since becoming a public limited company in 2007, it has recorded an accumulated profit of Tk 589 crore.

The airline currently operates a fleet of 21 aircraft, of which 19 are fully owned. These include fuel-efficient Boeing 787-8 and 787-9 Dreamliners. Biman also maintains in-house technical capabilities for aircraft maintenance, which reduces operational costs and enhances turnaround times.

In FY 2024–25, Biman carried 3.4 million passengers, transported 43,918 tons of cargo, and achieved an 82% cabin load factor, indicating robust demand and improved efficiency. January 2025 marked the airline’s highest ticket sales in a single month, reflecting growing public trust and market popularity.

Looking ahead, Biman plans to expand to new destinations, enhance digital services, and strengthen cargo operations. The airline aims to position itself as a top carrier in South Asia, combining national pride with global service standards.
