A technical helper of Biman Bangladesh Airlines has been detained at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka with 14 kg and 4 grams of gold. The staffer, identified as Sajin, was held around 12pm on Saturday, September 5.

Biman's Director of Security Major Farhan Tanvir confirmed the matter to Bangla Tribune. He said the arrest followed a tip-off about possible gold smuggling. "We stepped up surveillance. After passengers disembarked, Sajib tried to flee when he spotted our personnel, but we chased and caught him. He then led us to the gold stash inside the aircraft."

He said no case has been filed yet, and the gold has been kept in customs custody along with the detained staffer.

Earlier this week, customs officials seized 9.33 kg of gold from a Flydubai flight at the same airport . The gold, valued at around Tk 20 crore, was found unattended under an aircraft seat .
