The leaders and activists of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami brought out processions in different areas of the capital Dhaka on the first day of the fresh 48-hour blockade on Wednesday. The BNP and Jamaat called for the blockade after the parties rejected the upcoming national elections scheduled for 7 January. The Jamaat men brought out processions in Panthapath, Azampur, Shewrapara, Mirpur, and Pallabi in the morning. Under the initiative of the Tejgaon-Hatirjheel zone of Jamaat, the party men held processions in Panthapath, Uttara, North Dhaka City, and also demonstrated a road blockade in Azimpur, Dakshinkhan. In support of the blockade, leaders and workers of the Kafrul region of Jamaat organised picketing and a procession in Mirpur's Shewrapara area.

টানা ৪৮ ঘণ্টার অবরোধের প্রথম দিনে রাজধানী ঢাকার বিভিন্ন এলাকায় বিক্ষোভ মিছিল করেছে বাংলাদেশ জামায়াতে ইসলামীর নেতাকর্মীরা। বুধবার (২২ নভেম্বর) ভোর ৬টা থেকে শুরু হওয়া এই অবরোধ চলবে শুক্রবার ভোর ৬টা পর্যন্ত। ঘোষিত তফসিল অনুযায়ী ৭ জানুয়ারির আসন্ন জাতীয় নির্বাচনকে প্রত্যাখ্যান করেছে বিএনপি-জামায়াত ও সমমনা দলগুলো। এরই প্রতিবাদে দলগুলোর ঘোষিত ৬ষ্ঠ দফার ৪৮ ঘণ্টার অবরোধ চলছে। আজ সকালে জামায়াতের তেজগাঁও-হাতিরঝিল জোনের উদ্যোগে উত্তর ঢাকা মহানগরীর পান্থপথ, উত্তরা, দক্ষিণখানে ও ​আজিমপুরে সড়ক অবরোধ করে বিক্ষোভ মিছিল করেছে দলটির নেতাকর্মীরা। এ ছাড়াও অবরোধের সমর্থনে মিরপুরের শেওড়াপাড়া এলাকায় পিকেটিং ও মিছিল করেছে জামায়াতের কাফরুল অঞ্চলের নেতাকর্মীরা।
