According to locals and police, in 2022, Swapon's uncle Parvez was murdered by a drug dealer named Dilip and his associates. Dilip was imprisoned in connection with the case but was released on bail about a year ago. Since then, he resumed his drug dealing become a figure of fear in the area.

Around 9pm on Thursday night, Dilip pressured Swapon’s cousin, Amir Hossain, at Swapon’s shop to withdraw the case. When Amir refused, Dilip and his associates attacked both Amir and Swapon with sharp weapons, leaving them injured. Locals later rescued them and rushed them to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, where Swapon died early in the morning.

Swapon’s another cousin, Arafat, said that Dilip and his men had been pressuring them in various ways for a long time to withdraw the case. When they refused, Dilip carried out a planned attack on them.

Swapon was involved in politics as a supporter of Rokonuzzaman Sarkar Rokon, the member secretary of the Mymensingh South District BNP. Attempts to reach Rokon for comment were unsuccessful, as he did not respond to multiple phone calls or reply to a text message.
