After the High Court's verdict in the case of an attempt to assassinate Sheikh Hasina at the Ishwardi railway station in Pabna three decades ago, BNP leaders and activists from Ishwardi attacked journalists. Marking the incident, ATN News senior reporter Jabed Akhter was injured.

The incident took place in front of the Supreme Court's Annex building on Wednesday (February 5). The injured journalist was later admitted to Islami Bank Hospital in Kakrail.

During this, a microphone of Boisakhi Television was vandalized and several other journalists were beaten up.

Eyewitnesses said that the incident took place in front of the High Court's Annex building around 12 noon after the verdict was announced. The journalists were waiting for the briefing of the lawyers of the accused in the case. Suddenly, more than a hundred leaders and activists of the party started a ruckus in the presence of BNP Chairperson's adviser Habibur Rahman Habib. When they protested, at one point they attacked the journalists present.

Meanwhile, journalists boycotted the immediate briefing and sat down in the annex premises in protest of the incident. Journalists working at the Supreme Court demanded a fair trial and identification of those involved in the incident.
