BNP activist's floating body recovered from Kumar River in Faridpur

Police have recovered the floating body of a BNP activist from Kumar River in Nagarkanda of Faridpur.

The body was recovered from Kumar River flowing past Nikhurhati village in Char Jashordi Union of Nagarkanda Upazila at 5:30 pm on Tuesday (January 20).

Deceased Firoz Sheikh, 52, was the president of the Jubo Dal of that union.

Abu Musa, UP member of ward number 8 of Char Jashordi Union, said that Firoz Sheikh was seen playing cards in a banana plantation on the bank of the river in Nikhurhati Uttarpara village around 10 pm on Monday. After that, he did not return home.

Locals said that on Tuesday afternoon, some locals saw a body floating in the river and informed the Nagarkanda police station. Later, a team of police reached the spot and recovered the body.

Nagarkanda Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Rasul Samdani Azad said that the body has been recovered and sent to the Faridpur Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy. Initially, no injury marks were found on the body. Necessary legal action will be taken in the matter after receiving the autopsy report.
