BNP announces week-long programme to celebrate founding anniversary
Ahead of its 47th founding anniversary, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has unveiled a week-long programme. The schedule was announced on Wednesday (20 August) at a press conference held at the party’s central office in capital's Nayapaltan.
According to the schedule, a discussion meeting will be held at 2.00pm on August 31 at the Engineers’ Institution auditorium in Ramna. The main event will commence the following day (1 September) with the hoisting of the national and party flags at the Nayapaltan office early in the morning. At 11.00am, BNP founder and former President Ziaur Rahman’s grave will be visited, with prayers offered and floral tributes paid. On the same day, discussion meetings and rallies will be organised across districts and metropolitan areas nationwide.
At 2.00pm on September 2, BNP will hold a colourful rally from its Nayapaltan central office. On September 3, discussion meetings and rallies will take place at upazila and municipal levels.
On September 4, the party will undertake social activities, including tree planting and fish release programmes. The week-long programme will conclude on September 5 in Dhaka with a roundtable discussion.
