BNP backs Jasim in Hasnat’s constituency as Munshi ruled out
Cumilla-4, Debidwar, has turned into a focal point of electoral tension ahead of the 13th national parliamentary election. BNP-nominated candidate Engineer Manzurul Ahsan Munshi has been ruled out of the race after his nomination was cancelled by the Election Commission and his writ petition was rejected by the High Court, leaving BNP without a candidate in the constituency.
As a result, BNP has extended its support to Jasim Uddin, the candidate of Gono Odhikar Parishad, as an alliance-backed contender.
Jasim Uddin will now contest against Jamaat alliance candidate Hasnat Abdullah in the constituency.
Cumilla North District BNP member secretary AFM Tarek Munshi said verbal instructions have been given from the party’s central leadership to support Gono Odhikar Parishad candidate Jasim Uddin. Party leaders and activists will work in his favour.
He urged voters of Debidwar to stand by Jasim Uddin and support him by backing the truck symbol.
Confirming the development, Abu Hanif, a member of the higher council of Gono Odhikar Parishad central committee and the party’s media coordinator, told the media that BNP has formally extended its support to their candidate and instructed its leaders and activists to work for him.
