BNP calls parliamentary party meeting after oath-taking ceremony

BNP has called a meeting of its parliamentary party following the oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected members of the National Parliament.

Salahuddin Ahmed, member of the BNP standing committee, confirmed this information to the media. The meeting will be held at the parliament building at 11:30 am on Tuesday after the oath-taking ceremony.

Speaking to the media on Monday, Salahuddin Ahmed said, "The leader of the house will be elected in this parliamentary party meeting. As the leader of the majority party, our party chairman Tarique Rahman will become the prime minister, inshallah."

On Friday night, the Election Commission published the gazette for the winners in 297 out of 299 seats of the 13th parliamentary election.

In this election, BNP secured an absolute majority by winning 209 seats.

According to the constitution, there is a provision for the elected members to take oath within three days of the gazette publication.

Following the oath-taking ceremony of the members of parliament at 10 am on Tuesday, the oath ceremony of the new government's cabinet will be held at the South Plaza of the parliament in the afternoon.
