BNP candidate Mahmudul Haque Rubel wins Sherpur-3 by-poll

BNP candidate Mahmudul Haque Rubel has won the Sherpur-3 constituency (Shrivardi-Jhenaigati) by-election. The results were announced by the District Election Office on Thursday night.

After counting the total votes from 129 centers, including postal ballots, Mahmudul Haque Rubel received 166,117 votes for the paddy sheaf symbol. His closest rival, Masudur Rahman Masud, received 47,051 votes.

District Election and Returning Officer Md. Saiful Islam confirmed the results.

Voting began simultaneously in 751 polling booths in 128 polling centers in the district from 7:30 am and ended at 4:30 pm.

District Election Officer and Returning Officer Mohammad Jahangir Hossain said that the total number of voters in this constituency is 409, 806. Voting was completed peacefully.
