The Election Commission has cancelled the nomination of BNP candidate Manjurul Ahsan Munshi in the Cumilla-4 constituency on allegations of loan default. The decision was announced on Saturday, November 17, at around 4:00 pm following a hearing at the Basement-2 auditorium of the Election Commission building in Agargaon, Dhaka. Earlier, National Citizen Party candidate Hasnat Abdullah had filed an appeal, questioning why Manjurul Ahsan Munshi’s nomination should not be cancelled. After the hearing, the commission decided to cancel the nomination.

কুমিল্লা-৪ আসনে বিএনপির প্রার্থী মঞ্জুরুল আহসান মুন্সির মনোনয়নপত্র বাতিল ঘোষণা করেছে নির্বাচন কমিশন (ইসি)। ঋণ খেলাপির অভিযোগের ভিত্তিতে এই সিদ্ধান্ত নেওয়া হয়েছে। শনিবার (১৭ জানুয়ারি) বিকেল ৪টায় রাজধানীর আগারগাঁওয়ে অবস্থিত নির্বাচন কমিশন ভবনের বেজমেন্ট-২ অডিটোরিয়ামে শুনানি শেষে এ ঘোষণা দেন ইসি। এর আগে, জাতীয় নাগরিক পার্টি (এনসিপি)-এর প্রার্থী হাসনাত আবদুল্লাহ এ নিয়ে আপিল করেছিলেন, যেখানে তিনি জানতে চেয়েছিলেন কেন মঞ্জুরুল আহসান মুন্সির মনোনয়নপত্র বাতিল করা হবে না। কমিশন শুনানি শেষে মনোনয়ন বাতিলের সিদ্ধান্ত দিয়েছে।
