BNP Chairperson's adviser Shahida Rafique no more

BNP Standing Committee Member Barrister Rafiqul Islam's wife and party Chairperson's adviser Professor Dr. Shahida Rafique has passed away. She died at Dhanmondi Ibn Sina Hospital around 7:30 am on Sunday while undergoing treatment.

Earlier, on Thursday, she was injured after falling into a hole at the BNP's extended meeting venue in the LD Hall of the National Assembly. Later, she received primary treatment there.

When the doctors in charge of the party's extended meeting advised her to be taken to the hospital, she was admitted to Ibn Sina Hospital in Dhanmondi.

On Saturday morning, Shahida Rafiq's blood pressure suddenly dropped, so the doctors quickly transferred her to the ICU. It was reported that her kidneys and heart were not functioning normally.

Dr BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman and Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir expressed their condolences over the death of Shahida Rafiq.
