BNP condemns mob attack on former CEC Nurul Huda

The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has strongly condemned the mob violence against former Chief Election Commissioner K M Nurul Huda. Salahuddin Ahmed, BNP Standing Committee member, said the party opposes all forms of mob culture and will take action if any of its members are involved.
Speaking Monday, Salahuddin emphasized the party’s commitment to the rule of law and fair justice. “We reject mob violence and expect any legal proceedings against Nurul Huda to be conducted lawfully,” he said. He also condemned the humiliating treatment Nurul Huda faced and called it an isolated incident.
The remarks followed a viral video showing a mob surrounding Nurul Huda’s residence in Uttara and placing a shoe garland around his neck — an act seen as highly disrespectful.
Salahuddin assured that if any BNP leaders or activists are found responsible, the party will investigate and impose disciplinary measures. He reiterated that no one should be denied their legal rights regardless of the charges they face.
