The Sirajganj district unit of the BNP has expelled a local leader and ordered organisational action against five others over allegations of violating party discipline and engaging in alleged terrorist activities.

The decision was announced in two separate notices issued late Saturday night (July 25), signed by district BNP Office Secretary Tanvir Mahmud Palash.

According to the notices, Haji Mizanur Rahman Bablul, former organisational secretary of Kazipur Upazila BNP, has been permanently expelled from the party for repeatedly engaging in activities deemed detrimental to party discipline and for alleged involvement in terrorist acts in the area.

The party noted that Bablul had previously been expelled on similar allegations before being reinstated conditionally.

The district BNP also directed disciplinary action against five other leaders on identical allegations. They are Kazipur Upazila Jubo Dal Convener Manjur Rashid Rana, Joint Convener Atikur Rahman Atik, Upazila Swechchhasebak Dal Joint Convener Asadul Islam, Upazila Chhatra Dal Joint Convener Asif Sarkar, and Maijbari Union Chhatra Dal General Secretary Mister.

The notices said the disciplinary measures were approved by Sirajganj District BNP President and former MP Rumana Mahmud and General Secretary Saidur Rahman Bachchu.

Party sources said the move was taken to uphold organisational discipline and protect the BNP's image at the grassroots level, warning that the party would continue taking strict action against members found involved in activities that violate its code of conduct.
