BNP factional clash in Munshiganj leaves one dead
An individual was killed and several others were injured in a clash between two rival BNP factions in Mollakandi Union under Munshiganj Sadar upazila of Munshiganj.
The incident took place around 7.00am at upazila's Dumuria area on Monday (November 10).
The deceased has been identified as Arif Mir, 30, son of Khabir Mir of Char Dumuria area.
Police said the clash erupted over local dominance between groups led by Ataur Rahman Mallik and Awlad Hossain, during which gunfire and explosions occurred.
Arif was shot and declared dead at Munshiganj General Hospital, while another injured person was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Saiful Alam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Sadar Police Station, said, "Police personnel have been deployed in the area to restore order."
