Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury has said that BNP governments have always maintained discipline in the financial sector.

Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury said that the BNP government has always maintained discipline in the financial sector. Every time during the BNP government, there was discipline in the stock market and the macro economy. It will happen again, but we will have to give it some time.

He made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration of a Saraswati Gyan Mandir at Chittagong University on Friday noon (April 24).

Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury said, $230 billion has been taken out of the country. All the banks have been looted and destroyed. The stock market has been destroyed, banks are unable to give people's money. Many people are unable to get the money from the banks for treatment. Is there anything sadder than this? The responsibility of recovering all this has now fallen on the shoulders of BNP. We need to give it some time to turn it around. We are trying.

Stating that we are following the path of stable, tolerant and sensitive politics, the Finance Minister said, those who get in the way of this politics will not be spared. There are some disorderly people in the society. They do not belong to any party. The law will take action against them.

Regarding load shedding, Amir Khasru Mahmud said, "It cannot be said that there is no crisis of load shedding. Thinking about the crisis, we increased the price of fuel oil very late. The price of fuel oil has been doubled in Washington, whereas it has been increased by 10-15 percent in Bangladesh. The government has limitations in its capacity. The country has to be run." The government runs on tax money. That's why we have to be careful.

The Finance Minister said, we also have to implement austerity measures so that the lights in the houses don't go off, no factories are closed, and there is no problem in people's work. We are continuing that effort.

The event was presided over by Chittagong University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Alauddin. Others present included State Minister for Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Mir Mohammad Helal, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister ABM Abdus Sattar, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Bijan Kanti Sarkar, Vice-Chancellor (Education) Professor Mohammad Shamin Uddin Khan, Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr. Kamal Uddin, among others.
