BNP halts Sherpur district convening committee
The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has suspended the 41-member convening committee of its Sherpur district unit with immediate effect.
The decision was announced in a press release signed by BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Wednesday (January 28).
The suspension will remain in force until further notice, read the press release.
According to the release, all activities of the Sherpur district BNP convening committee, led by convener Advocate Sirajul Islam and member secretary ABM Mamunur Rashid Palash, have been halted.
The press release did not specify the reasons behind the suspension, nor did it outline any future steps regarding the party’s organisational structure in Sherpur.
The development has sparked discussion and speculation among local BNP leaders and activists, who are now awaiting further directives from the party’s central leadership.
