BNP has no expectations from interim govt: Amir Khasru
BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury has said his party has no expectations from the current interim government. Speaking at the inauguration of the Small and Cottage Industry Fair organized by the Barishal Divisional Business Forum, Khasru said economic growth would resume once an elected government is in place.
“This government is temporary. Once an elected government comes, economic growth will happen,” he said. He added that BNP is preparing to stand by the people from day one.
Khasru noted that BNP’s divisional visits aim to democratize the economy, which he said has long been controlled by a few groups. He emphasized the need to revive traditional cottage industries and handmade products.
“Our traditional handicrafts have been destroyed. We will revive them and bring those engaged in handicrafts into the mainstream economy, which will increase both production and income,” he said.
He also stressed that “every village should be able to produce its own product.”
The BNP leader, along with leaders of the Barishal Divisional Business Forum, visited stalls showcasing regional handicrafts after the event.
Khaleda Zia’s adviser Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal, BNP leaders Nazrul Islam Rajon and Sheikh Abdur Rahim, and local chamber officials were present.
Babul Dutta, Executive Director of the Shitolpati Shilpo Jubo Foundation, said such fairs help expand market opportunities and called for more initiatives.
The fair displayed traditional products like Jhalakathi’s gamchha and shitolpati, betel nut shell crafts from Pirojpur, jute goods, and more
