'BNP is taking organizational action against over 7,000 members to ensure transparency'
BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has said that ensuring the trust of voters is one of the party's main responsibilities ahead of the upcoming national elections in February. He said that to reflect the hopes and aspirations of the young generation, BNP is reaching out to people from every class and profession of society, starting from the grassroots, and is further strengthening the organizational structure from villages to the center.
Tarique Rahman further said, "Through this coordinated effort, BNP wants to ensure transparency and accountability. In the meantime, organizational action has been taken against over 7,000 party members in the wake of various allegations. Some have been removed from their posts for corruption, extortion and misconduct; many have been expelled. It was not easy to take such decisions amidst multifaceted propaganda, but these were essential in the context of reality."
The BNP acting chairman said this in a status posted on his verified Facebook account on Thursday (September 18).
Tarique Rahman wrote, “Discipline is not a weakness, but rather it is the strength of BNP. By holding its members accountable, BNP has proven that it is sincere about honesty. The standards demanded of those in power have also been held to those standards. In this way, the trust of the people will be rebuilt, especially the trust of the youth, who want to see politics not just as a game of power but as a great field developed with the participation of all.”
He mentioned that BNP has always modernized itself to meet the needs and challenges of the time. Direct connection and communication with the people has been further strengthened. The party’s policy has been developed based on a 31-point program, including promises on education, healthcare, youth employment, climate change and digital innovation.
He said, “BNP is prioritizing inclusion, so that more women, young leaders and professionals can participate. Let BNP be identified as a symbol of service, justice and efficiency; Not a symbol of division or privilege."
Regarding the country’s current challenges, Tarique Rahman said, "Bangladesh’s problems are different, so the steps must also be based on new thinking. However, history will not be denied, but rather we must move forward on its basis."
He further said, “BNP is now committed to building a disciplined, future-oriented and modern Bangladesh by embracing that tradition. The youth want real opportunities, the people want stability, and the world wants Bangladesh to be a credible and respected democratic state.’
Tarique Rahman urged his colleagues and activists, "Let us remain united, disciplined and committed to serving the people. Just as I trust you, you should also trust me. Only then will the path to democracy become brighter."
He expressed optimism and said, "Only by working together will it be possible to prove that it will be possible to build an accountable state system, a stable institutional structure and a future desired by the people in Bangladesh, InshaAllah."
