BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has declared that the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) is the only political party capable of safeguarding the nation’s future. He further announced that Tarique Rahman would assume the role of Prime Minister if BNP forms the government.

Speaking at a discussion titled “The Purpose and Significance of BNP’s Establishment” held at the Engineers’ Institution auditorium on Sunday, marking the party’s 47th founding anniversary, Mirza Fakhrul emphasized the need for comprehensive reforms to transform Bangladesh’s political and economic landscape.

“The implementation of BNP’s 31-point reform agenda is essential to bring about meaningful change,” he said.

Major (Retd.) Hafiz Uddin, a member of BNP’s Standing Committee, highlighted ongoing conspiracies both at home and abroad aimed at disrupting elections and undermining democracy in Bangladesh. He criticized a particular political faction for allegedly assisting BNP electorally while disregarding the country’s independence.

“There is a concerted effort by India to restore the Awami League to power,” he said. “Indian parliamentarians are praising Sheikh Hasina to facilitate her political comeback.”

Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, also a Standing Committee member, said, “National unity was achieved through the banner of nationalism.” He expressed confidence that BNP’s leadership would usher in a revolution in the education and health sectors alongside defending democracy.

Begum Selima Rahman called on BNP leaders and activists to remain united during these challenging times. She accused some political parties of attempting to sabotage upcoming elections by manipulating the proportional representation system.
