BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman said that the party is actively working to restore people's right to vote and freedom of speech. He remarked, "The Awami League government has deprived people of their right to vote to maintain its grip on power. For 16 years, they stripped away the people's right to express themselves, imposing an undemocratic rule through force. They mocked the public with fake elections, while oppressing the opposition through false cases and enforced disappearances."

He said, "After Sheikh Hasina's downfall, brought about by a united movement of students and the public, she was forced to leave the land of Bengal. Since then, BNP has been striving to regain the rights of the people to vote and to speak freely."

Tarique Rahman made these remarks while addressing the biennial conference of BNP's Narail district unit virtually from London today. The conference took place at the Narail Government High School ground.

Mentioning that BNP has a great chance to win in the next election, he said "Despite having huge support of the people from grassroots, BNP should start working for public welfare from now on.”

He asked the party leaders and workers to get ready and change their mindset to bring positive changes in the country and implement the 31-point.

"If BNP is voted to power, it will start implementing the 31-point, which will carry forward as an ongoing process and we’ll improve it step by step,” he said.

“Real victory of BNP leaders and workers will come if we can implement the 31-point charter,” he said.

Pointing out the irregularities in the country’s various sectors during the reign of Sheikh Hasina, Tarique Rahman said the fascist AL has destroyed the country's economy, education, development and democracy alongside making country’s electoral system completely farcical.

BNP Chairperson's Adviser Aman Ullah Aman inaugurated the conference while Narail District BNP President Biswas Jahangir Alam was in the chair.

BNP Khulna Divisional Organizing Secretary Anindya Islam Amit and Assistant-Organizing Secretary Jayanta Kundu spoke as special guests at the program.

District BNP General Secretary Monirul Islam, Senior Vice President Zulfikar Ali Mondal, Organizing Secretary Shahriar Rizvi George, Joint General Secretary Ali Hasan, Narail Sadar Upazila BNP President valiant freedom fighter Mustafizur Rahman Alek, General Secretary Mujahidur Rahman Palash, Lohagara Upazila BNP President Ahduzzaman Batu, Kalia Upazila BNP General Secretary SM Wahiduzzaman Milu, Narail Pourasava BNP President Telayet Hossain Babu, and General Secretary Khandaker Fosiar Rahman also spoke on the occasion.
