Mahibuzzaman kochi, a BNP leader, died at Khulna Sadar Alia Madrasa polling centre at 8:10 am on Thursday. He was a former office secretary of Khulna Metropolitan BNP.

Witnesses and police said tension arose between BNP and Jamaat supporters outside the centre. BNP alleged that Mahibuzzaman Kochi was pushed during Jamaat's campaigning at the centre, causing him to hit his head against a tree, leading to his death.

However, Jamaat's centre-in-charge Mahbubur Rahman claimed the incident occurred outside the centre due to a heart attack; no one was pushed or assaulted. The centre's presiding officer also said this was not an issue inside the centre. Sadar Thana police said they rushed to the spot upon seeing tension between both sides and brought the situation under control.

No injury marks were found on the body of deceased Mahbujzaman at Khulna City Medical College Hospital. Both BNP and Jamaat are offering different explanations of the incident.
